About my tongue tie services:-
As a trained midwife, International board certified lactation consultant and tongue tie practitioner I am able to review any feeding concerns and provide support to overcome any challenges.
Tongue-tie is a condition which affects up to 1 in 10 babies and is more common in boys. Most of us have a lingual frenulum (a membrane situated towards the base of the tongue which extends from the under surface of the tongue into the floor of the mouth) so the presence of a visible or palpable lingual frenulum is normal anatomy. In some cases this lingual frenulum may be short, tight and attached close to the tip of the tongue and cause restrictions in tongue function. This can then cause feeding difficulties or symptoms in your baby. If you suspect your baby may have a tongue-tie or is experiencing any of the following symptoms, and you would like support please reach out for support.
Symptoms for babies:-
Difficulty latching, slipping off. Clicking sound whilst feeding, shallow gape of the mouth, irregular feeds, short or prolonged feeds, hiccoughs, wind, reflux, colic symptoms, restless between feeds, weight loss or static growth. Some breastfeeding mothers may also experience: Painful, stinging or burning nipples. Nipple trauma, misshapen nipples post feed, white or blue nipples post feed, breast pain, engorgement, blocked ducts, recurrent mastitis, supply issues.
Not all babies require a tongue tie division, but would benefit from tailored feeding support from a qualified lactation consultant.
