Massage Therapy – Including Pregnancy Massage

Hi. My name is Steph and I’m a massage therapist. I trained through VTCT and studied full-time locally at the Hereford & Ludlow College. I’m a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists and fully insured through FHT.

I have had an interest in massage and complementary therapies for many years and decided to train as a therapist as I recognise the value and importance of health and well-being for both our physical health and mental well-being and enjoy being able to support others with this as a therapist.

Prior to training as a massage therapist, I trained as a Steiner early years practitioner and worked for 11 years with young children and their families, so I have a great deal of experience supporting mothers and young children emotionally and developmentally, and now also by using pre and post-natal massage too.

I keep my skills updated and refreshed by regularly attending training days for continued professional development. I am qualified in the following massage treatments:

  • Pregnancy massage.
  • Hot stone massage.
  • Swedish massage.
  • Indian head massage.
  • Deep tissue massage.
  • Reiki.
  • Trigger point therapy.

The benefits of massage during pregnancy:

  • Pregnancy or prenatal massage is a holistic practice that has numerous benefits for physical and mental health and well-being.
  • It helps to alleviate stress on weight-bearing joints and Musculo-fascial structures.
  • Soothes and relaxes the nervous system by releasing endorphins into the mother’s body. As a result, the expectant mother feels more relaxed and at ease, promoting better sleep.
  • Helps with many of the physical discomforts experienced during pregnancy, such as muscular discomforts, back pain, headaches, leg cramps, sciatica, stiffness, knots, tension, heartburn, acid reflux, fatigue, varicose veins, nasal congestion and aches and pains throughout the body.
  • Stabilises hormonal levels and helps relieve anxiety or depression caused by hormonal changes.
  • Increases blood circulation, providing more oxygen and nutrients to both mother and fetus and stimulates the lymph system, which then increases immunity and removal of toxins.
  • Pain relief – Massage is a natural, safe, drug-free alternative for pain relief since taking medications during pregnancy is often limited.
  • Promotes relaxation and stress relief.

Massage promotes good health and well-being as it helps ease physical discomfort, emotional well-being and mental health, so why not treat yourself or a loved one to the healing touch of massage?
