Nurture in Psychology

Welcome to Dr Rachael Macleod – Clinical Psychologist

Specialising in supporting women through the transitions of motherhood and womanhood, with a focus on birth trauma, maternal mental health.
I specialise in supporting women through the transitions of motherhood and womanhood, with a focus on birth trauma, maternal mental health, and the profound changes known as matrescence — the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual transition that occurs as a woman becomes a mother.
Since 2015, I have worked in a variety of mental health settings, including paediatric healthcare (specialising in working with children with cancer and their families), fostering and adoption services, supporting children with additional needs (including learning needs and neurodiversity) and their families, and working with women who have experienced trauma at any stage of their lives. She has a particular interest in supporting traumas associated with motherhood and womanhood.
Having experienced the transformative journey of motherhood herself, Rachael is passionate about helping women feel heard, empowered, and supported as they navigate the challenges and rediscover themselves during this life stage. As a mother of two girls, she is also committed to shifting the culture around mothering — for today’s mothers and for the next generation. Suffering is not ‘part of the package’.
Rachael is a HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologist (PYL040113), Co-founder of Nurture in Psychology, and a Seasons of Matrescence Educator & Guide (in training).
